Fruit Tree Plantation for Environmental Sustainability and Family Livelihoods at Navenagar

06 Oct 2026

As part of October Service Week 2026, Lions Club of Alibag Poynad organized a Fruit Tree Plantation Activity on 6 October 2026 at Navenagar, with the objective of promoting environmental conservation, increasing green cover and supporting the long-term livelihoods of local families. Under this initiative, a total of 11 fruit-bearing trees of various varieties were planted and provided to four local families for planting on their own land. The activity was designed to encourage families to take ownership of the trees and ensure their proper care and maintenance. The initiative combines environmental sustainability with community economic empowerment. In addition to contributing to green cover and ecological balance, the fruit trees have the potential to provide supplementary income to the beneficiary families in the future, subject to the trees' growth and fruit production. A total of 9 Lions members participated in the activity and contributed 18 Lion Hours towards its successful implementation. The total expenditure incurred for the activity was ₹3,500.
