The Lions Club of Alibag – Mandwa successfully organized a special environmental awareness activity on the occasion of Ganesh Festival on Wednesday, 27th August 2025. This initiative was undertaken with the noble vision of protecting nature, reducing pollution, and ensuring clean water bodies during the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols. Festivals often create large amounts of waste, particularly plastic and non-degradable items, which cause harm to rivers, seas, and the environment. Understanding this pressing issue, the Lions Club took the responsibility to inspire the community towards adopting eco-friendly practices. As a practical and symbolic step, 3,000 cloth bags 🛍️ were distributed among the devotees to collect Nirmalya (floral offerings). Instead of using plastic bags—which contribute heavily to pollution—devotees were encouraged to make use of these durable, reusable cloth bags. This small yet powerful act carried the larger message of reducing plastic consumption and celebrating festivals in harmony with nature. 💚 Through this initiative, the Club not only contributed to keeping the environment clean but also spread the message of responsible celebration. It was a reminder that traditions and devotion can be practiced in ways that also respect and preserve the natural world.
