SCALE OF DISTRIBUTION The project was designed as a District-wide initiative covering all 55 Lions Clubs. District-Level Distribution 55 Lions Clubs × 1 Machine = 55 Screening Machines 55 Lions Clubs × 250 Strips = 13,750 Testing Strips 55 Lions Clubs × 250 Lancets = 13,750 Lancets Therefore, the planned distribution represented: 55 Diabetes Screening Machines 13,750 Diabetes Testing Strips 13,750 Lancets Cotton Supplies for Screening This provides Lions Clubs with an immediate resource base for conducting diabetes screening activities in their respective communities. 5. OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT The major objectives were: 1️⃣ Early Detection To facilitate early identification of elevated blood glucose levels through community-level screening. 2️⃣ Accessibility To make basic diabetes screening equipment available through Lions Clubs across the District. 3️⃣ Community Outreach To enable individual Lions Clubs to organise Diabetes Check-Up Camps in their local communities. 4️⃣ Awareness To increase public awareness regarding diabetes, regular screening and preventive healthcare. 5️⃣ Strengthening Lions Service To create a common healthcare service platform through which multiple Lions Clubs can contribute to diabetes-related community service. 6. EXPECTED COMMUNITY IMPACT The distribution of screening equipment to 55 Lions Clubs significantly expands the District's capacity to conduct community diabetes screening. Instead of conducting screening only through a central programme, individual Lions Clubs can use the equipment to organise camps at: Schools and colleges Senior citizen centres Rural and tribal communities Residential communities Workplaces Community halls Old-age homes Public awareness programmes Other underserved locations This decentralised approach can help bring basic screening closer to people who may otherwise not undergo regular testing. 7. COMBINING SCREENING WITH SERVICE A key strength of the project is that the equipment distribution is intended to support future diabetes check-up camps, rather than being a one-time distribution activity. Each Lions Club receiving a machine can potentially conduct repeated screening activities, creating a continuing community-service impact throughout the Lions Year. One Machine → Multiple Camps → Multiple Screenings → Greater Community Impact 8. LEADERSHIP & DISTRICT SUPPORT The programme was conducted in the presence of senior District Lions leadership.
